Around the world, people are waking up to the disturbing trends around euthanasia in Canada.
Since its legalisation there in 2016, criteria have been rapidly relaxed, numbers have rapidly risen, and there are now harrowing stories of people opting for euthanasia simply because they can’t afford to live in a dignified fashion with the health or social care on offer to them.
Many who support assisted dying in principle have rightly been shaken when they see the disturbing shifts in culture and healthcare in Canada resulting from the legalisation of euthanasia there (referred to as MAiD – Medical Assistance in Dying).
