Healthcare professionals opposing assisted suicide & euthanasia

Our duty of care (ODOC) is a network of thousands of UK healthcare workers who oppose the intentional killing of patients by assisted suicide or euthanasia. We welcome professionals from right across healthcare, who belong to all faiths and none, and who often hold divergent positions on other ethical issues.

ODOC campaigned during the membership polls run by the Royal College of Physicians, Royal College of General Practitioners and British Medical Association to maintain medical opposition to assisted suicide, and has worked hard to bring healthcare professionals’ concerns to the fore during legislative debates at Westminster, Holyrood, and beyond.

The campaign is directed by Dr Gillian Wright, a former palliative care doctor based in Scotland, and having begun as a grassroots initiative in 2019 is now financed and administered by the Care Not Killing Alliance.
